History of Redemption Congregation

The history of Gethsemane congregation, Northampton, began as far back as June 2015. Mr. Joseph Agyenah who was a Catechist in Den Haag, Holland but had moved to Northampton met
Madam Augustina Adomaa at Milton Keynes PCG church. They agreed to start a church in Northampton as there were a lot of Presbyterians there. In September 2016, Cat Agyenah, Cat Isaac Owusu Offeh and Mr. Stallone Gyamfi met and started all the underground work to start their first service. The above People together with Madam Augustina Adomaa co – founded Gethsemane preaching point. The first official service took place on new year’s day 1
st January 2017 at Brother Agyenah’ house in Northampton. 11 people were present, 5 adults and 6 children. Cat Offeh led the service and Cat Agyenah gave the sermon. An amount of 66 pounds was raised as offertory. An interim Management committee was formed to oversee the activities of the Preaching post
until substantive presbyters were elected on 19th February 2019. The church was elevated from a preaching post to a congregation on 31st March 2019 with membership of 75 and an average attendance of 50 – 55 and with the following people as its first presbyters;

The elevation was officiated by Rev K. Asumeng (then North London District Minister) , Rev. Joseph Oduro (Minister in Charge, Milton Keynes congregation) and Cat Ankomah Agyei. A preaching point that Started with 11 members can now boast of 189 members with anaverage church attendance of 90 members as at the end of 2023. We meet every Sunday from 11am – 2pm for Sunday service at the Doddridge center, 109st James road, NN5 5LD , Northampton. Current presbyters as at March 2024
